DeX mouse two finger scroll stopped working

Description of the issue:

DeX mouse two finger scroll stopped scrolling websites. Settings view still scrolls like before, but websites do not. Scrolling with a mouse wheel still works as before.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Android Brave browser in Samsung DeX.
  2. Try to use the DeX trackpad’s two finger scroll to move down on a website.
  3. Get visibly disappointed.

Expected result: Scrolling just works.

Brave Version: Brave 1.74.47, Chromium 132.0.6834.83 (experienced this for first time with the previous stable release though)

Mobile Device details: Samsung S23, up to date.

Additional Information: I am actually crying rn.

Seems like not many people are using the DeX trackpad.

Should I create an issue on Github instead?

I am experiencing the same issue after the latest OS update from Samsung.

Brave Version: Brave 1.74.48, Chromium 132.0.6834.83
OS: Android 14, Build/UP1A231005.007
One UI: 6.1.1
Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra
Trackpad: Official Tab S9 Ultra keyboard case’s trackpad

Additional Info:

  • Two-finger scrolling on the trackpad does not work (attempted fixes below):
    • In DeX mode and outside DeX mode, so DeX mode is not the issue.
    • In both Normal and Private tabs.
    • With the “Desktop site” option enabled and disabled.
    • After clearing the cache and app data in the device settings.
    • After reinstalling the Brave browser.
  • Scrolling websites using arrow keys works correctly.
  • Scrolling in history, settings, and other views works correctly—only website scrolling is affected.
  • The issue started immediately after the latest OS update from Samsung.

I anticipate this post will gain more traction as users encountering this problem after installing the latest OS update. Let’s hope for a quick fix.

Did it start after an OS update or a Brave update?

I’ve seen some posts over on Reddit suggesting the issue might be in Chromium.

I assumed the culprit was the OS update last night, but I’ve just checked and Brave update was also installed last night. Could be any of them.

Looks like it’s all Chromium-based browsers:

It gets worse… This was already reported as a bug in Chromium Beta 132.0.6834.56 and has seemingly been ignored for about a month. It has now made its way to a stable release for all Chromium-based browsers.
