Description of the issue:
All of my Brave Desktops/Windows/Tabs configuration get deleted, when
(1) I exit the browser, and then
(2) I run a program that cleans up temporary files. I use Dell SupportAssist.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Exit the browser, and then
- Run a program that cleans up temporary files. I use Dell SupportAssist.
- Restart Brave: No more Desktops/Windows/Tabs configuration. It all has been removed.
Expected result:
I want my (large) configuration restored upon logging in as normal.
Brave Version( check About Brave
):
Brave 1.79.123 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Chromium: 137.0.7151.104
Additional Information:
I currently use 10 Desktops, and I had a large number of windows and tabs set up.
Apparently, Brave uses a temporary file to hold this configuration, and it gets deleted, if I forget or get distracted
and run Dell SupportAssist after I exit Brave. I assume that this is because Brave has the file open, when it is active,
and so SupportAssist can not delete it then.
Please, Please, Please switch to another method of storing this configuration data. It destroys an important part of
my work environment every time it disappears.
Suggestion: It should be easy for you guys. (1) Rename the file and move it, so it won’t be interpreted as a temporary file. (2) Be pro-active and provide a File menu item(s) to allow the user to back up (and restore) the entire
configuration to a private device/directory for safety.
I, and probably many others, will be so grateful!
