Custom avatars in profiles

Hi !!!

I use multiple profiles (more than 20) and the possibility to use custom avatar images for quick identification purposes would be very appreciated.

Thank you!

Brave’s handling of profile avatars is holding me back from using it for a lot of things. I use profiles to segregate different aspects of my digital life (especially extensions that have no business gathering information about me unrelated to their purpose) and my work. Even overlooking the fact that we can no longer set custom profile icons, Brave’s built-in set of 5 different icons in a handful of repeating color schemes leave little room at all to pick visually distinct icons to tell profiles apart by.

Does anyone have an up-to-date method of setting custom icons?

Well, I could use it as well, as you said, we are using our computers for various aspects in our lives. Work, volunteer organisations, hobbies, you name it.

The current set of icons look pretty much the same. What we need is the ability to put in a image file that is meaningful. For me that would be organisation logos. To you it might be cats, who knows.

Because with these default images are too abstracts and too similar. It’s hard to know when you are in one or other profile.

A temporary solution would be use different themes for each profile.

Please Brave do not ignore us  this is important.

I have multiple profiles for work, private, etc… I tried without avatars, but I can’t…
Come on Brave! Let’s make Brave a bit more user friendly and don’t let us wait another year!

Annoying indeed. Take a look at my profiles Icons are almost useless.
What I do (through settings → profile name and icon) is to rename each profile with a priority number at the beginning. This work for the list.

Then, each important profile has a very distinctive color theme. Black, purple, blue…
a workaround until Brave Theme hears us…

Color themes helps better than this current limited, abstract Icons.
We would love to see uploading of custom avatars, or drop them in a folder so Brave can pick it up all from there.

Actually, in a previous version, I’ve been able to pick a “cat” icon.
It’s still located in C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Avatars, and this profile keeps on collecting this icon when I open it.

I’ve added my own png logo, but it doesn’t appear in the “colored disks” list (neither the cat or the “generic”)…

Maybe at that time Brave was presenting various icons from some ip address, and the one you pick was uploaded in this folder…?

So, they’ve done it before !

Yes. I read that was a previous feature and now doesn’t work.
They have to do it again! easy - peasy .

I also think that would be nice

It took us several and long pilgrimages to get customizable top sites in new tab… so a 11,111 mantras would do the job…

Everytime I update Brave I hope to see custom avatars available. But with no luck. This feature would be really appreciated :sunny:

so +10 from my side for this feature-wish.

Such an obvious missing feature. Please do consider or at least explain why it couldn’t be implemented.

Besides no needing to have additional profiles in orers to have your signature avatar displayed…

is there a way to that on Mac? I cannot see the Avatar directory on my side. Thank you.
