"currently offline" nag message

Ok I searched the Forum and nothing seems to quite match my issue:
I keep getting this ‘untrue’ nag message:
BRAVE nag message
basicly implying I’m not connected to the internet, but I’m QUITE SURE I am, and so is Brave, since it works perfectly, without any problems. It just nags and goes away when I click “refresh”. What may be causing this and how can I get rid of it?
Thank you, Brave Community!

@Carla84 could you provide a bit more information? For example:

  • Which OS is this occurring on? (such as Windows 11, Android 13, Mac Ventura, etc)

  • Which version of Brave are you using? (say actual version number, don’t just say “the latest”)

  • Is this happening everywhere or only on particular sites? (If particular sites, could you share a link?)

  • Where is it that this message appears? (Such as in your device notifications, on the website content itself, or what?)

Thank you for answering.
OS - Windows 10 Desktop PC
Brave Version 1.57.62 Chromium: 116.0.5845.180 (Official Build) (64-bit)
It seems to be happening more on facebook Games app, although I believe it happens with other sites, not sure. (well, MAYBE only on facebook game apps, I really can’t be sure at the moment - shields are up for this site as you can see in the screenshot, could that have any bearing?)

There it is again - It is like a small pop-up or “toaster” at the bottom left of the screen. So it doesn’t seem to be part of any website content, or notifications.
Just an annoying pop-up, that goes away when clicking Refresh, or the little cross. It’s not affecting anything - Brave keeps loading happily - so, again not a BIG ISSUE, just… annoying!
Thank you again for getting back to me.

adding Brave just updated - issue remains even after the relaunch. ty.

@Carla84 from what I can see, that’s not an OS or browser notification. What you’re seeing it something appear based on Facebook. Have you tried disabling Shields and see if it still happens?

I’m assuming it’s trying to hit with a tracker or particular cookie but perhaps Shields is blocking it. As a result it just tries to say it appears offline. But what you’re seeing seems to be part of the game client.

Same thing happens with shields down.
I guess not much can be done. I wonder if this happens to anyone else?
Thank you just the same.

I’ll tag in @Mattches and @fanboynz to see if either of them can walk through on more possibilities.

In the meanwhile, will help if you do the following:

  1. Make sure you’ve updated to 1.58, which just released today

  2. Test in private window and see if it happens there as well.

same thing happens in private window.
it MAY be facebook apps related…??

Yeah I’ll differ to @fanboynz on this — not sure what would be causing this. If you’re still online and able to load and run the game then I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Of note, you may be able to hide this yourself manually using the “Content filter”, by right-clicking on the page, selecting Block element and selecting the pop-up.

More information on the content filter and how to use it here:

BLOCKED ELEMENT worked!!! YAY!!!
THANK YOUUUUU!!! @Mattches !!!
