Ctrl-w doesn't close tab when Address bar active

Ctrl-w doesn’t close tab when Address bar active (cursor in address bar), instead, it deletes text backward on the address, until the address is empty
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open multiple tabs
  2. Go to any URL
  3. Press ctrl-W with cursor in the address bar.
    Expected result:
    Tab closes.
    Brave Version( check About Brave):
    Version 1.42.97 Chromium: 104.0.5112.102 (Official Build) (64-bit)
    Additional Information:

Works OK for me, on Fedora 36.

What distro are you on?

Ctrl+W is the emacs-style word deletion keystroke, so it sounds like something in your distro is capturing that and using it to execute that function instead of letting it be passed along to the browser.

Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS, 64-bit
Gnome v. 42.2
Wayland (windowing system)

It’s true that I do use Emacs, but in a different window altogether. I checked my setup to see if ‘Ctrl+W’ were defined as a desktop shortcut anywhere, and didn’t find anything.

I did a quick test in an Ubuntu 21 VM and the issue is not present.

Does any of these help?

The second one, https://askubuntu.com/questions/1102895/ubuntu-shortcuts-not-working-when-chrome-text-fields-are-highlighted, had the answer. I don’t think I would have been able to $SEARCH_ENGINE that out by myself. Thanks!
