hello there,
a lot and a lot of crash today with the last update, for no particularly reasons. No new extension or plugins.
Thanks @rficasa for reporting. What OS are you on?
Do you have crash reports enabled?
Hi, same problem. Open Braave Nigtly and after crash. Cant do anythink
In Brave 1.4.23 Chromium: 79.0.3945.79 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit) on Windows 10 OS Version 1909 (Build 18363.535), my crashing is not as severe and appears to relate to Brave Rewards interacting with authentication scripts or the like based on the crashes happening when opening links to Twitter and when trying to log into Playstation Network from Bungie site and a couple other places. Turning Brave Rewards off appears to have stopped the crashes.
This behavior does not occur at all on Mac so far (Brave 1.4.21 Chromium: 79.0.3945.74 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit) macOS Version 10.14.6 (Build 18G1012).
I’ve not used Linux in a while and can’t report on that.
Upon some testing with the latest github release of 1.4.24
release here : https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases
It seems the crashing after Rewards enabled has subsided in this version.
DO NOT TRY AND MERGE THE TWO BROWSERS! This version appears to be a prototype for a later Nightly channel release, and alleviated the crash issue. I will continue using nightly, and cheching here periodacally if anyone else has this issue.
It at least appears that Brave is attepting to fix the issue (Thank you Brave Devs)
However, what’s strange to note is this ‘Nightly Prototype’ does not recognize itself as nightly, probably because it’s still in development, and has no actual ‘allocation’ for which update channell it is supposed to go with.
All I can hope is next time I awaken from a slumber that a hotfix has beenrolled from proto phases to nightly.
Hope this helped someone.
EDIT:
From the Github Issues under https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/7382
The Brave Shields don’t affect on the problem.
I have to keep one tab for the browser to work, which is obviously very inconvenient (at least I didn’t notice that the browser closes with one tab).
I have noticed as well that one tab open does NOT stop Nightly from crashing on my PC’s, and VM as well. Have tested this on:
britannica.com - crashes in search engine AND web address bar
att.com - same as above
twitter.com - only seemingly thru search engines
download.cnet.com - same as twitter
Will post more broken sites as new information is avalible.
It seems like @hnktong added, Brave Rewards causes this, as I can confirm disabling does alleviate the issue, but is a tad bothersome if someone like myself has grown acustomed to Brave Ads.

im W10 1909 18363.535
No update since friday yet.
Still in Version 1.4.21 Chromium: 79.0.3945.74 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit)
and no i don’t have report enabled… I always disable this option ^^
Just wanted to add that the issue still persists in version 1.4.25 for me with no apparent change to previous builds.
Edit: as AsAboveSoBelow says the crash is related to brave rewards.
yepp
Same here, just updated to 1.4.25 yesterday and still crash every minute…
quite annoying, difficult to keep Brave as daily browser since it crashes a lot…
Also reported in a few other threads, one of which is Browser keeps crashing after few minutes opened
I am having the same issue on 1.4.25… quite annoying
could it be a cookies issue? NYTimes works fine on all my devices
update to everyone.
This issue has been fixed in the resent update (1.4.40)
Agreed, appears to have been fixed (in Windows; Mac never had issue). I reenabled Rewards and hit the sites that induced crashes and had no trouble using:
Brave 1.4.40 Chromium: 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit)
Windows 10 OS Version 1909 (Build 18363.535)
Definitely not fixed on Linux - [Version 1.4.40 Chromium: 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) nightly (64-bit)].
Within the time it took me to open Google, DuckDuckGo and theregister.co.uk, the browser crashed. The screen still flickers every 20 or 30 seconds before it crashes.
