I would like to know how to have youtube (when logged in to the website in brave) cookies kept save when i close the browser.
Right now when i close the browser and reopen it i need to log back in again and i have cookie notices every single time which is annoying. (on my android phone)
I also have the option ‘forget me when i close this site’ disabled.
Not what im looking for.
not trying to backup this in brave on mobile, just want to know how to stop getting logged out from youtube and have those cookies saved on exit.
basicly what im looking for is a way to not auto remove youtube cookies on mobile.
i had this issue 3 years ago also with brave and no reply was given, just automaticly shut down. again now?
In order to not be logged out, try . . .
Never use:
- Brave Browser Private Browing Only mode
- Dark mode
- Night mode
Because, if by chance, Brave Browser Private Browing Only mode becomes enabled . . . you will know that has happened.
So, if you are surprised by a “Dark mode” appearance, you need to check your settings. Why? Sometimes, “Night mode” is incidentally enabled by a Brave Browser update.
Use of Brave Browser Private Browing Only mode, will cause cookies to NOT be stored upon exit (when quitting BB).
In Brave Browser Settings > Brave Shields & Privacy, disable all of:
- “Block all cookies”
- “Enable Global Privacy Control”
- “Block Cookie Consent Notices”
And under CLEAR PRIVATE DATA, disable all of:
- “Browsing History”
- “Cache”
- “Cookies and Site Data”
- “Saved Logins”
Finally, do NOT use the Brave Browser “Shred Site Data” feature.

yes js is enabled by default.

That sounds like, a prompt that occurs at the end of a connection (to a website) session.
That prompt, is not the same as “a) accept all cookies or b) reject all” - that are settings to adjust in the browser Settings -or- perhaps in the site-specific Brave Shields complex of settings.
If you are prompted to accept or reject cookies during a connection-to-a-website-session, choose accept.
When you log in to a Google website (be that, G-mail, YouTube, etc.), you are logging in to the Google “ecosystem.” Some of the cookies that the website sends to Brave Browser (“BB”) to store, are effectively crumbs for other Google ecosystem websites to notice (that you logged into some other Google ecosystem website).
Test:
Instead of logging in at YouTube.com, perhaps you might try logging in, first, at https://accounts.google.com. Then in another BB New Window, go to YouTube.com.
When finished with YouTube.com, close its window(s), but leave the https://accounts.google.com website window intact.
the test works yes, but when you close the browser after all of that and reopen it then again youtube and also google ask cooking consent + login. (meaning cookies are not being saved)

Despite your NOT using Private Browsing Mode, and your allowing cookies and leniency for scripts . . .
Closing / quitting Brave Browser on your Android phone, also causes Brave Browser to lose the login cookies / login session. Tagging @Mattches

If you visit Youtube and tap on the Shields icon in the address bar (be sure to expand the “advanced controls”) can you please tell me what each of these settings are configured to?
Additionally, can you please check and confirm that you do not have Brave set to clear data “on exit” by going to Settings --> Brave Shields & Privacy --> Clear data on exit?
@Erikje there has been a lot said and I think would be better to start off kind of fresh. I’m going to list a bunch of questions, some of which may be repeating what has been said before. But please do a favor and try to check each one.
To Confirm:
- You’re saying that you get logged out of YouTube every time you close the browser?
- You’re also getting some sort of cookie notice each time?
Basic Questions:
- What version of Android are you using?
- Which version of Brave are you using?
- What Shields settings are you using? (Can you show both site specific and global settings?)
Issue specific questions:

Does this happen to any other websites or only YouTube? (Really 2 questions on this. One is if can still access gmail and all or if it’s logged out as well. Second is if any other website like maybe a Facebook. Twitter, Brave Community or others are also logging you out of if this seems to be only Google)

Could you install Brave Beta or Brave Nightly on your Android phone and see if the issue happens there as well? When you install either of those, don’t change any settings but use it as it is.

- tracing url enabled
- HTTPS default
- scripts normal
- indirect cookies blocked only
- finger print block enabled

- delete browsing dat on exit ON
- then in settings of clearing data (advanced) cookies, site data and site settings is off, history, cache, passwords, and forms is on.

- webrtc deactivated non proxie
- all the crypto stuff off
- cookie notice block enabled
- Yes it happens with other sites to like: Google itself, Brave community to, outlook site to.
- done (nightly) and here i can login and accept cookies and close the browser and reopen it and it works!
- no proxy or vpn here.
- i did change those, but i tested it by turning them off.
- when shields are off on youtube it still logs me out.
- on chrome it also works, maybe because i get logged in be default, by a google login through the browser.
- im using those.
