I don’t know why cookies cannot be managed in the same way as javascript. The recent changes have made the cookie settings minimal/restrictive.
I had been creating settings using wildcards[*.] to allow parent domains (eg https://site.com) to direct to additional pages (eg https://account.site.com) without the need to allow/disallow cookies on every page.
The wildcard also helps prevent looping when certain sites (usually during log-in) switch to various pages, eg account.xx, consent.xx, authorisation.xx, etc and back again and is impossible to visit each page as they are split second redirects. Without setting cookies on these pages log-ins usually fail or the loop continues endlessly.
Please enable users to manually add sites and wildcards to various categories of cookies: Block third party, allow all cookies.
