After fresh install and import of three profiles from Google Chrome all the 3 profiles had “On startup: Continue where you left off”, but this setting did not work. After checking Last open tabs aren't restored on restart - #2 by SmartyAadi I switched this setting “open the New tab page” and then back to “Continue where you left off” and only after that it started working fine
Operating System and Brave Version:
Microsoft Windows 11 23h2, build 22631.5189
Brave 1.79.118 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Chromium: 137.0.7151.61
Additional Information:
This is kind of quick fix but only if you google it and it might be a big downer for new users if this does not work from the start ( I can see A LOT of topics here with similar issue)
The “Continue where you left off” setting, is intended to preserve specific site data - useful for resuming sessions (not for preserving Bookmarks, Extensions, Passwords, Sync, Tabs).
If you have the browser set to launch with specific sites orContinue where you left off, sites that load when the browser is relaunched, will appear in history.
Continue where you left off only applies to applications that are fully “Quit”. In Windows, hitting the x button to “close” the browser effectively does this. On MacOS however, clicking the RED button (upper/left corner of the browser window), only closes the window - it does not quit the process.

I understand what it does. I’m saying that it’s now working if it’s set automatically (maybe after import of chrome settintgs) and only starts working if I turn it off and turn on again. And r there are a lot of similar reports saying that turn off, turn on again fixes the issue. For example: https://community.brave.com/t/bug-with-continue-where-you-left-off/461352|
I mean: shouldn’t this be somehow fixed so that new users are not confused with this option not working?
