Closing Window does not reopen tabs

I am currently moving from chrome to brave and have 3 profiles set up. I had no issues copying all my info from the 3 profiles accodringly to brave, but now that I am trying to close the windows it asks me if I want to close the window. I do that and then upon reopening a new window opens instead of the previously opened tabs. I can click on restore window but that is tedious and annoying. I have seen others mention that there is a close window option under the profiles icon, but I do not have that

I have also already changed the setting so that it should open where I left off.

How can I close the windows of the different profiles and upon reopening have the previously opened tabs all appear without having to right click and re-open the last window?

The option to close windows from the profile menu is present when that profile has more than one window open.

This is the setting which restores windows when you restart Brave. I don’t know of any other settings or procedures that are required.

@pitchipoo I believe this is due to the way sessions are handled in general. The browser will only reopen the last Window opened in that profile/session. So if you have two profiles open at once (“Profile A” and “Profile B”) and Profile B has three windows open, the behavior will be as follows:

  • If you close each open window in Profile B (using the x icon on the Window), when you go to launch the profile again, you’ll only see the last window opened in the profile as it is restoring the previous “state” that the profile was in.
  • If you right-click on the Profile B icon in the taskbar and select Close all windows then relaunch, it will only restore the first window that was opened in that session — if I’m being honest, I’m not entirely sure why this is the case and will have to ask the devs what the difference is (from the browser’s perspective) between performing that action vs the next bullet point below
  • If you Profile B has multiple windows open and, as @Mythical5th states, you click on the profile icon in the browser and select Close x windows, this will save the “state” of this profile such that when you re-open it, all windows and tabs will be preserved and restored.

For your purposes, I would recommend using the method in the last bullet point, as it is assured that it will preserve the state of that profile and restore all windows/tabs on launch
