Closing tabs on mobile version on an emulated android device doesn't work

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue:

If I close multiple tabs from the list of tabs, the browser does not actually close them unless I open a new tab as an additional step. It doesn’t matter if I manually close them one by one or if I close them with the “select tabs” option or if I close them with the “close all tabs” option.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Have multiple tabs open and then close the browser app
  2. Open the browser app so the square tab list shows some number of tabs greater than 1
  3. Go to the list of tabs and close these tabs (any method including manually one by one, using the “select tabs” option and select any number of tabs, or using the “close all tabs” option
  4. Close browser app
  5. When you reopen the browser app, all of these previously closed tabs are still in the list of tabs

Expected result:

I expect the tabs to be closed.

Brave Version( check About Brave):

1.71.123

Mobile Device details

Emulated Samsung S22

Android

Additional Information:

If you command one or more Tabs to close, they should.

Have you tested the matter on a “live” Android device (same make and model)?

So allow me to add additional detail when I tried again to replicate. I’ll have to download an additional app on a live device to see if it also can be replicated there.

For this to happen for me, it appears there’s an additional requirement for the creation of the tabs. Rather than starting the browser and then opening tabs, the requirement appears to be that these tabs are a result of being forwarded to the browser from another app. It does not seem to matter if it’s a specific app (I tried opening forwarded tabs with two Android games - Arknights and Summoners War).

The sites that were loaded does not appear to be specific to only site domains owned by those respective developers as Twitch and Youtube tabs also lingered.
