Closing tab results in high cpu

#1

When closing a tab the cpu climbs to ± 70% and it takes approx 14 secs for the tab to close

#2

Is this all tabs or just from a specific site? Could you confirm which version you’re on?

Hi Brian,

Sorry about the email address mix up, I have a couple of different email
address and got confused.

That’s pretty good feed back.

Following my initial observation about the high CPU issue when closing a
tab, I have done the following:

  1. Removed Brave using IOBit Uninstaller which seems to remove all the
    applications components.

  2. Reinstalled Brave
    Brave 0.12.15
    Muon 1.4.31
    libchromiumcontent 53.0.2785.143
    V8 5.3.332.47
    Node.js 6.5.0
    Update Channel dev
    os.platform win32
    os.release 10.0.14393

  3. I installed my bookmarks of which there are about 3000 using the
Brave Input Browser Data from an Chrome HTML file.

  4. I immediately had the high CPU again, about 70%, and it takes about
14 seconds before the Tab is removed.

  5. I deleted everything and reinstalled Brave, same version, and problem
    didn’t show up.

  6. I manually created a couple of Bookmark folder with test webpages and
    closing Tabs works OK.

Hope that helps.

Kind Regards,

John

Handling huge bookmarks import is not yet implemented. You can check it here
https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/pull/5587

#5

Do you mean that every tab close after the import is slow forever? Or just that after it imports it locks up for a long time? But then it goes back to normal for future use. If it’s the latter it’ll be solved by what @sriram mentioned. If it’s the former I may ask you if you can email me the bookmark file privately, or if that’s not OK we can try to troubleshoot further.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your obvious interest, you support is very good.

With regard to the tab problem:

  1. The import of the bookmarks is slow, not surprising, however, one the
import is finished each time I close a Tab the CPU utilisation is -+70%
and takes approx 14 secs until the system responds.

It’s OK for me to send you a copy of my bookmarks file, how do I send it
privately?

Regards,

John

Thanks, you can email it to me at brian@brave.com

Hi Brian,

Attached is the bookmarks file I used which seems to result in the close
tab issue.
Have a great new year.

Kind Regards,
John

Sorry but I don’t think it was attached, could you email it to brian@brave.com?
