Ads show up with no problem. If I click on them, or click close, it launches my Nvidia Geforce Game Overlay.
I used the test URL to force a notification https://www.bennish.net/web-notifications.html and the same thing occurred there when clicking the notification.
I thought this was related to shortcuts so I changed my shortcut for the launch from Alt+Z to Alt+Num7. It now pops a different section of the Nvidia Overlay than before.
What OS/Brave version are you using?
