Chromewebstore extensions not working

Description of the issue:
I installed a few “eyesight reminder” extensions from the Chrome Web Store:
Eye Blinker, and then one called “VISION” on my MacBook Air M1, but they aren’t working in the Brave browser. They never worked. They’ve been installed for about a year. However, the same extensions work fine in Brave on a much older MacBook Air.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Install eyesight reminder extensions from the Chrome Web Store in Brave on a newer MacBook.
  2. Enable the extensions and attempt to use them.
  3. Notice that the extensions don’t function as expected (reminders don’t appear at all).

Expected result:
Reminders should appear. The extensions should work as expected on the newer MacBook, just like they do on the older MacBook.

Brave Version:
Version 1.73.97 Chromium: 131.0.6778.108 (Official Build) (arm64)

Additional Information:

  • The extensions work perfectly on the older MacBook, which has the same Brave version.
  • I’ve checked that both devices have the same settings and version of Brave.
  • I’ve also tried restarting Brave and reinstalling the extensions, but the issue persists.
  • The extensions are from the official Chrome Web Store and work on other browsers, so I suspect the issue might be specific to my newer MacBook’s Brave installation.

yes, that’s them. They are not working. It’s as if they’re not installed.

anyone know why they are not working?

Info about the Vision Extension:

Overview

on Clock Vision Extension

Vision is an agile project management software geared towards companies offer software as a service.

With agile/scrum development in mind, vision is an end to end project management tool from requirements, development, release all the way to payroll and billing.

The web app is available here vision.finitydevelopment.com

Is that what you expected?

Because the other extension, Eye Blinker, is about eye strain and other eye vision problems.

Yes, on my other macbook air, popup windows appear every 20 minutes, to remind me to look away, and give my eyeballs a break.

They do nothing on this new MBA. That’s why I tried a few.

Surprised none work. Anyone know why?

hi, I am hoping to find out why they don’t work. anyone?

still no ideas on this?

Because that extension is NOT ABOUT EYE VISION:

So . . . you would NOT want that extension . . . correct?

right. I guess I misread the “Vision Extension” one. I just want vision/eyesight related ones.

@apachewolf,
I just installed the “Eye blinker” extension in Brave (latest stable build) on my macOS (Macbook pro M3 running Sequoia 15.3) and it seems to be working just fine — I set the notifications to appear every 5 minutes and they have done so.

Can you confirm that you’re using the latest build of the stable browser? Is it just these extensions that aren’t working properly, or is it any extension that you install?

Hi, thanks. I have Sonoma 14.4.1. I uninstalled all except for Eye Blinker. I have the latest version of Brave.
Other, non-vision related extensions, like crypto wallets, seem to work ok. So weird.
I wonder why this is happening.

@apachewolf have you tried un/reinstalling the eyeblinker extension?
