I can’t vouch for this personally, but it seems to address the question. Unfortunately seems like it would require an extension.
I recommend the Stylebot extension. From the official website of extensions for browsers on the chromium engine.
Actively developed, supported, up-to-date.
For the dark theme of the starpage search engine, I use the entry in the “code” tab as shown on the right.
Works great. Everything can be adjusted to your needs.
