Casting widget gone

Description of the issue:
After Casting a widget would appear to the right of the URL field that when clicked would have the STOP casting.
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Click on “Save and share” to open the window with the casting link
  2. click casting, start casting.

Expected result:

  1. Normally, after casting a widget would appear to the right of the URL field that when clicked has the STOP casting.
  2. Now no widget appears after casting.
  3. The only way to STOP is to return to “Save and share”, click on Casting to open a window with STOP.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave 1.79.118 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Chromium: 137.0.7151.61

@MMx0

Recently, Brave developers removed a different (search) widget, and “just maybe” they incidentally also removed the widget of interest to you.

@289wk they are talking about Desktop, not Android.

Reference is like you see in the screenshot below, where the icon appears:

The image icon. Traditionally you could right click and a menu would appear where you could pin it. But it seems the option to right click no longer exists.

When testing on a new profile, choosing to cast has it appear in the middle of the screen instead of toward the top and said icon never appears. So even while active, no good.

It still exists on my main profile at least as I had it pinned. Though now I can’t unpin if I even wanted.

I had considered, wondered if there was an unintentional “oops” (another widget scooped up in the process) - after seeing at the GitHub link, the combination of a (deeppandya) patch to remove the Chromium search widget . . . plus the (kjozwiak and hffvld) test/QA to see if that patch also worked for Android:

I am certainly not a GitHub wiz and can misunderstand some of its lingo.

I do not know where the boundary is, or subtle boundaries are, between Chromium for desktop and Chromium for Android. Both desktop and Android use the same version of Chromium. (And there is a Brave developers project to remove Chrome widgets.)

Follow-UP: The widget still exists in the Chrome & Edge browsers.
