Can't use Posteo webmail on Brave

Description of the issue:
Hi, I have Posteo account and I can’t use their webmail when using Brave, I can login and open first email but all other emails are just loading continuously. I disabled all shields, site specific and general and all blockers. No extensions are enabled. Posteo uses Roundcube for their webmail and some javascript for encryption. I tried contacting them but they said to use Firefox and I can open webmail there but I want to use Brave. Any help?

I have the same problem, but never noticed until I read your post, justaq, since I normally access posteo via Thunderbird IMAP with no problems at all and never use the webmail interface. I run Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.1

At the end I used Thunderbird but sometimes I would like to use web-app.

So apparently Brave blocks something more by default and I can’t find what it is…

I’ve just tested in Chromium, Chrome and Firefox. All three work normally with the Posteo web interface. Sometimes (it’s happened a couple times) everything loads in Posteo/Brave. Once when I clicked on the address book and then returned to email, but I wasn’t able to duplicate.

This may have to be investigated by Brave reps who already have an account or have a budget to pay for a posteo account. I don’t have one and don’t want to pay €12, especially when my KungFu may simply be too weak to help. @Mattches, you wouldn’t happen to have a posteo account, would you?

Just restarted Brave with all add-ons except Lastpass disabled. Same problem with Posteo mail.

Could you all please post your Brave and OS version information (even @fstjohn please so we can get kernel version Menu->Preferences-> System Info on mine yields Cinnamon 3.8.9 and kernel 4.15.0-55-generic for my Mint 19).

To get Brave version, type brave://version in address bar and hit return. This will also provide some OS version information.

macOS: Apple menu -> About This Mac
Windows: Start->Windows Administrative Settings->System IInformation

What’s strange is that you’re able to view the first email without issue, then the rest of them exhibit the behavior.

I’ve reached out to support to see if we can get a test acccount and take a closer look at what may be causing the conflict. Users should not have to decide between their preferred email client and their preferred browser – especially when there’s so much overlap between both.

Appreciate everyone’s patience and will return when I have a response from their support staff.

I’m using Version 0.66.101 Chromium: 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) (64-bit) on MacOS Mojave 10.14.5 along with Brave Version 0.66.101 Chromium: 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro 1903. Same issue is on Mac and Win. Really happy community and Brave is engaged :wink:

PS. as reported before sometimes Brave loads the inbox. Can’t reproduce it. Just now I have left Brave running for like 5 minutes with webpage opened and inbox has been loaded. I’m trying it again now. Edit: could not reproduce the load.


So its now working? No issues at all? (with Sheilds enabled?)

Sorry if you misinterpret my post. I have shield disabled all the time. I have left Brave loading the webmail for couple of minutes and somehow it loaded the emails. Later I tried it again and I didn’t load them again. Someone already said that Brave sometimes loads the emails, for me 2 out of 50 times after 5-10 minutes… So in conclusion: Posteo webmail doesn’t load more than 1 email in Brave.

Hi, everyone I use Brave since a coupple of days and I encountered the same Issue with Webinterface. But I found out, that if i turn off Brave shiels (site only) and reload the hole page. it would work.

So I can login, first I see the first mail in my inbox, than I open it, then reload the Page and I see the whole Inbox.

I would be happy if it would work as normal.

When the issue occurs; Could you paste the sheilds (trackers) being listed on the site?

By now, shields listed no blocked trackers etc.

Does allowing cookies and/or all-device recognition and/or disabling upgrading https help?

Possibly one of those is causing it?

I tried every setting. Disabled everyting and mixed up but it’s the same. Sometimes it loads but upon refresh its the same. I couldnt reproduce loading of inbox.
