Cant open specific homepage

Description of the issue: I am not able to open the page: https://www.elster.de
I can open it with every other browser like Firefox without any issue. Incognito Tab also doesnt work. Deactivating Brave Shields doesnt help
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Try to open https://www.elster.de/
  2. Just see a blank white pageimage|690x366

**Expected result:*Page should be open *

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.73.104 Chromium: 131.0.6778.204 (Offizieller Build) (64-Bit)

Additional Information: Windows 11 Pro

You might create an additional Brave Browser Profile - for testing.

And, sometimes an anti-malware or fits-all “Internet Protection” extension can get in the way.

Tips regarding Brave Shields:

I have more success, with:

  • Brave Shields UP
  • Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
  • Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
  • Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
  • Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting

I almost NEVER use:

  • All of Brave Shields UP
  • All of Brave Shields DOWN

In other words, I “inch my way along” . . . trying to find what satisfies the website. I recommend the slow approach.

Thank you for your reply but as I said, I already tried deactivating Brave Shield completely, no change. Tried different profil, no change either. It works perfectly over Chrome or Firefox, I wanted to make sure, its really Brave not my Connection in general

As @289wk suggested, can you please try creating a fresh browser profile (Menu --> More tools —> Add new profile), closing your original profile (so only the new profile window is open) and try visiting the site there?

@Levine odd question for you. If you try the link below, does it load or it do the same as you’re showing?

I’m asking because I notice where it redirected to the above link when we visited. It doesn’t seem like they have a landing page that goes just to https://www.elster.de as you originally mentioned and is what we see in your address bar in the screenshot where you have an error.

So while seems pedantic part of me is wondering if this little detail might be what’s causing problems. Or at least a hint as to what’s happening

Hold on, I just found out its my VPN from Hide.me: When its on, I cant visit the site with Brave, but with every other Browser. How does that fit together?

Honestly not sure. To confirm, you’re saying if the VPN is disabled then you can see the site in Brave?

Yes, exactly. I’ve checked it again right now. The moment I deactivated the VPN, I was able to access the site immediately. But its only Brave, I can access this Page with every other Browser without any issue, with or without VPN.
