I was having problems with a website I normally use. They suggested uninstall Brave and reinstall. I uninstalled and now I can not download the Brave ap on my android Galaxy J3 phone. Says phone isnt compatible with this ap? I just had it this morning so am confused with how to reinstall. I have cleared all data and cache from Chrome, Google Play store and restarted. In addition, when I went through google and tried Brave.com it said website not safe. I do not want to go back to Google searching so please help.
@Mongetron What Android version are you using? Most likely you are on an outdated version of Android that is no longer supported, hence why you can’t get it from Google Play.
If it is outdated, you’d have to know which version was last supported and try to find the APK and sideload it. Either that or upgrade to a supported phone/OS so you can officially install it.
Of course, if you install the older which I’m assuming are compatible with your device, do keep in mind that you’ll be missing out on features and some of the adblock stuff on Shields may not work as they have added a lot of capabilities which yours wouldn’t have. Also wouldn’t have patches to make up for any vulnerabilities that were found.
Yeah, of course. It’s one of the most recent updates. Should last you a little while. Only thing I’ll give you a heads up on is that people have been reporting issues with Brave on Android 14 in regards to syncing passwords. Even with a screen lock enabled, it will tell you it can’t sync because you need biometrics.
It’s something being actively worked on. Not sure how long until fully resolved. But is potentially an issue you could face if you try to sync new phone to get those details.
