Cannot find Brave bookmarks on Linux Mint

Schoolboy error…

I’ve rebuilt my laptop (Linux Mint) and foolishly forgot to export all my Brave bookmarks before doing so. I did, however, backup my /home directory, so am hoping to find the bookmarks in there somewhere.

A Google search suggests that they should be stored in /home/user/.config/BraveBrowser, but no such directory exists in my backup (or in the new laptop build). I did, however, find the folder /home/user/.var/app/com.Brave.Browser but could not find anything that looks like a set of bookmarks in there.

Can anyone suggest where those bookmarks might be, or have I just lost them?

Two files, “Bookmarks” and “Bookmarks.bak” ← search for them, using the Profile Path revealed at:

  • brave://version

Thanks. The Bookmarks file was indeed in .var/app/com.brave.Browser/config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default, I just didn’t spot it buried in amongst all the other files and folders there. Copied it over from the backup and everything is now fine.

Your reply told me what filename to search for.
