Cannot download documents due to "server problem"

When i try to download pdf.-files and docx-files. i will get a “Download failed” and if I click “Resume” I will get a “Server problem”

Could someone help me with this?

Hi

@adont_hither Try this

  1. Open brave://settings/content/pdfDocuments?search=pdf and check “download pdf”

  2. If you have docx extension, disable it.

If not working, try downloading in a private window by holding CTRL+SHIFT+N

Hi and thanks for the quick answer.
This didn’t work though for me

plz send me the problematic link.

You can test downloading both files:

  • widgets.pdf
  • widgets.txt

Also, you might use Microsoft Word, to create a simple .docx file . . . and then upload that file to this web page of your Original Post (“Cannot download . . .”). And then test downloading that .docx file.

Test files that have as their filenames:

  • no space characters, and
  • only alpha-numeric characters

In a Brave Browser > New Window, go to:
brave://settings/content/pdfDocuments and Enable: ‘Open PDFs in Brave’

. . . has worked. Possibly because, if Brave Browser’s PDF handler(s) can get the PDF file open and [pre-]view-able, then the file will download . . . and focusing on that task is accomplished. Focus, meaning, the download is frontmost - instead of possibly some background task. Maybe. It’s a theory.

But overall, I have found in Brave Community > PDF issues, that non- alpha-numeric characters in PDF filenames, may cause PDF downloads of such files, to fail.
