Briefly describe your issue:
I am in the UK and have been using Brave and collecting rewards for a number of years, linked to a Gemini account. My company has recently been sold to another, and yesterday my Windows PC was migrated to the new company’s servers, and email, etc.
Today I find my Brave is no longer linked to any crypto account. In trying to relink, I am told that Gemini is not available in my region. How is it that I was ok using Gemini yesterday, but not today?
I have also noted that all my unclaimed rewards (not added to me Gemini account), and Ads count, and been lost. Can I recover these?
What Operating System and Brave version are you using? (Menu --> About Brave)
Windows 11 with Brave v1.67.116
Who is your verified custodian? (Uphold/Gemini/bitFlyer)
Gemini
Are you in a supported region? (see here for list of supported regions)
I am in UK. This was ok yesterday, but today it seems it no longer is
@PaulP the answer was given to you prior to you asking. In the template, do you remember how it had the following?
Did you not look? I mean, I see your answer to it but it seems you ignored the information in that.
Gemini is no longer available for linking accounts. The only way it works is if you are using the same Brave profile, device, etc. Most likely your migration set things up where you’re on a new Rewards profile and all, which means it’s seen as a new device as one never connected before. As such you fall under what is said above, that Gemini isn’t supported.
Do note that currently Brave is trending away from custodial partners like Uphold or Gemini. They remain as options for now, but the focus is trying to perfect and push out on chain payments. You can read more about that at PSA: Current and upcoming changes to Rewards and Creators
Not sure what you’re referencing. All payments occur monthly, so you would have had all payouts before if you were connected. Are you just referring to the ads seen in the current month? If so, that likely will pay out here in July. But if you’re referring to anything earlier, then it sounds like you’ve had some other issue.
They might, not sure. To be clear, I’m not from Brave. I’m just another active user who spends a lot of time helping people. I may not be good at phrasing things but at least wanted to answer some of your questions head on so you know where you stand.
Yes I had already identified UK was no longer supported by Gemini, but from my point of view, it was fine one day, and then not the next day. I was wanted to be back where I was. From your reply, it doesn’t even seem worth me creating an Uphold account to replace it.
What I meant by my loss is that I had X number of rewards paid out to my Brave account, but I had not yet transferred them to my Gemini account. After the migration this balance has been zeroed, so all those rewards are lost.
If only I knew why the migration seemed make Brave think this was a new device, I might be able to recover them. That’s where I thought Brave support might be able to help, though it seems this is a community forum, no monitored by Brave themselves.
Brave has people active here, but only a handful to handle issues.
They auto pay anyway. So you should be getting anything that you earned during the payout, as it has worked for quite some time now. So nothing needed to be done on your end.
Depends on how long you want to wait. Uphold will let you earn now. If waiting for on chain, nobody knows exact ETA. They are still gradually rolling it out to users. I know the goal is to have it available to all by the end of the year, but I’m not sure how well they’ll do on it.
I am going to tag in @Evan123 (someone from Brave) just to see if he can verify. This is an assumption of mine based on what you shared, but can’t say it with certainty. Though I have to say I haven’t seen him or others active today, so not sure what is going on.
It may also benefit you to try to create a Rewards Support Ticket at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001302431 explaining the situation and see what they can tell you. Just keep in mind often takes at least 3-5 business days (can take longer) to see any messages and respond.
Hi,
I see what you mean about it auto-paying. I was only referring to what Brave was telling me. Now I check my Gemini account, I think the BAT balance on there is possibly around the amount my Brave browser used to tell me.
Though as I use different devices at home and at work, they both should be accuring rewards into that same Gemini account.
