Bug ctrl+c in address bar quits the browser

Description of the issue: highlighting the text in the address bar and pressing ctrl+c or ctrl+v to copy or paste an address crashes the browser.
How can this issue be reproduced? pretty straightforward..

Expected result: copy/paste text in clipboard

@snichols27 can you confirm whether the browser actually crashes, or if it’s just “closing” the browser? If it is actually crashing, can you please launch the browser and go to brave://crashes and send the most recent crash report and share the crash report ID generated with me here so we can take a look?

Additionally – I’m not able to reproduce this in the latest stable build of Brave on Ubuntu. Off the top of my head, this seems like it may be an extension issue – can you confirm whether or not you have any extensions installed at this time? If so, does disabling them make any difference?

Would also be curious to know if this occurs in a fresh profile as well (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile) – make sure you close your original profile window and only have the fresh one open when testing.

Can you try going into brave://flags and then looking for brave://flags/#brave-copy-clean-link-by-default and disabling it?

You’ll have to restart the browser after that. But let me know if that resolves the crashes.

Also, do you see anything in brave://crashes/?

At first I thought ctrl+c was sending SIGINT but the browser does appear to be crashing. It crashes on ctrl+v or x as well. I can right click and select copy/paste etc and that works. Same behavior as many other bugs reports I saw for Windows going back over a year.

Here is a crash report that was uploaded recently: b3cd0100-3d5e-ed0d-0000-000000000000

Disabling that flag did not resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Thanks for the crash report. @Mattches has shared it with our crash investigation team.

@Mattches @fmarier So, reisntalling brave, deleting all extentions, and deleting ALL browser data did not solve the issue, but a new profile did! Not sure what’s wrong with my profile.
