Everytime I hit the Update button, the browser disappears, but never comes back up, and it hasn’t updated. I have to click on the icon to open the browser again. Still not updated.
Is your account an administrator account on the machine? What is your OS?
It’s a new iMac that I transferred everything over from a Mac Mini via Time Machine. Running High Sierra version 10.13.2. I am administrator.

I’d advise updating manually and seeing if the issue persists with the next update. You can update manually by grabbing the latest Release build from our GitHub repo: https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/releases/tag/v0.19.139dev
