Hello:
Would like to know where in “Preferences,” I would go to set a blank page when I first open the Brave browser? Thank you. -Ella

@Ella ,

Thank you for your response. I did exactly what your message instructed me to do and I don’t see that circle with the two: about.blanks. Instead, I get a red link saying, “Add new page,” and when I did, I got only one, “about.blank,” and below that is, http://about.blank. I closed the browser and when I re-opened it says, “This site can’t be reached,” along with the message below.

about.blank ’s DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem.

DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE

I’m using a macintosh computer.

Using the method above, you’ll need to enter about:blank without any http/s before it. Additionally, you can set custom background images on the New tab page (select Customize on the bottom of the NTP) to be used or toggle background images off, which will produce a blank (although colored) background:

Hello Mattches:

Thanx, but after tinkering around with the background and blank page, I had already found another way of getting rid of the background supplied by Brave. Also, the http/s is being added when I type in “about.blank.” So, to make that clear again, I’m not the one whose typing in the, http/s. It’s doing it automatically on its own, every time I type in, about:blank and there is no way to get rid of it. Thanx again for your help.

@Ella ,

Copy and paste (notice the colon - not a period):

about:blank

You may first, have to use the “Add a new page” selection . . . and then go back and edit that, replacing whatever you set as the new page . . . do the Copy and Paste.

Hi 289wk,
The colon did the trick!! So I got it working! Sorry everyone, I guess I wasn’t thinking. Thank you for pointing out that it’s a colon instead of a period and thank you all for your help! Have a great day/night. -Ella
