Brave Update Fails

Description of the issue:
When checking the browser’s version by clicking on “about Brave,” the update begins, then after a few moments, it fails.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
To reproduce this error, all I must do is click on “about Brave.”

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):

Expected result:
I expect the update to complete
Reproduces how often:

**Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):**Win 7 Ultimate x64

Additional Information:
If I must reinstall Brave to resolve this error, please instruct me on how to export cookies, and all other browser data (forms data, settings, extensions etc).

Have you tried:

  • quit/close Brave
  • end all Brave processes from Task Manager
  • reopen Brave → try to update again

Yes, , I disabled all extensions, closed Brave, confirmed all instances of Brave had terminated, and received the same error when the update failed.

If you have a copy of the installer/download again from brave.com then you can just run the installer to fetch the latest version.

No need to uninstall. Just run the installer.
