Brave Update & Data Loss

Description of the issue:
Brave was recently updated on my Windows 10 desktop, and there are two versions running concurrently now. However, the new version has none of my data stored (passwords, preferences, bookmarks, BAT … nada). The old version still has everything, but says it is not supported any longer.
“A newer version of Brave (0.57.18) has already been installed. This version of Brave (0.26.0) is no longer supported and will not be updated.”

I do not know how to reproduce this or what causes it.

Does anyone know how I can get the new updated version to recognize & use the data that the old version is using?
