For a while now I have been experiencing problems with Brave not syncing, typically a message will pop up stating ‘snc not working’ or similar, all passwords are lost but bookmarks remain.
I am quite versed at logging onto Brave via mobile, copying and sending snyc code back to desktop.
Before this happens Brave starts to run slow as though its updating in the background, however this is unlikely as OS is fedora 40 which updates via terminal, or at least when I run dnf update i often see a large download for Brave.
Although I have backup all my data my concern is the mobile device may not be up to date if unused for a day or so.
Brave version 1.69.153 (Aug 22, 2024) Linux fedora 40
Yup, sure - it might be a while as intermittent only happening when Brave updates, or at least that’s what it feels like as everything is slow for an hour or two before hand.
I always check the ‘about’ page for version of Brave, the release date is generally a few days prior to my issue but it could take a while before my system updates.
When I was using Windows both Chrome and Brave would update in the background, making everything slow for a while - this is the exact same experience although I do not use a Chrome repo so it only updates at weekend when I running the dnf command, pretty sure Brave is updating on its own due to having its own repo installed - could anyone confirm this ?
The other option would be to uninstall then reinstall via Flatpak which is managed by the system exclusively.
I’ve just gone to do my weekly update via terminal and see google-chrome-stable is ready for download but no Brave, my guess is Brave has somehow downloaded and updated itself during the week, this would make sense as the Chrome update appeared mid- week also.
Is there anyway to stop Brave updating automatically via its repo, would much prefer to update when machine is idle at weekends, thanks
I think what may have happened is Brave updated itself directly causing a conflict issue, the last two updates have been via terminal which went smoothly no problems at all.
When updating via terminal everything is closed so no slowness experienced, this is in contrast to when Brave updates automatically with a noticeable lag…
I am sure others have suggested this before but would an account login based sync program be more reliable, I still retain Chrome as my main browser as you are able to login and inspect/save/export passwords.
Everything was solved on my side after the update.
.
It sounds like a sync issue. Try resetting the sync chain, clearing the cache, and ensuring both devices have the latest Brave version. You can also check sync-internals for error details. Hopefully, that resolves it! I needed help with my lab report, and I came across https://www.topessaywriting.org/write-my-lab-report The writer assigned to me was a subject expert, and they did an amazing job breaking down the complex procedures and findings in my experiment. The report was well-organized, with clear explanations and an appropriate use of scientific terminology. I was extremely satisfied with the quality and timely delivery of the report, and I’ll definitely be using this service again.
