If there were a way to import and export those data that sync offers through command line, I would not have to rely on Sync, as it is not a backup it seems. I could set a script to automatically export and make the backup.
This is another important feature that would be good to have, and very useful.
I’m pretty sure there isn’t. If someone is familiar with coding you might be able to change some script to set things to sync to your own server. But not sure how complicated that would be.
In any case, let me tag in @Mattches as I’m sure he’ll see what you’re asking better and should have a more solid answer overall.
If there were information about what which folder and file means in that sync options context, that would also be something if no other more convenient option were available.
e.g., What files and / or folders are the settings part, which are bookmarks and extensions, etc…
If by having those the file back in the folder or symlinked, would make the browser download those extensions, or something alike.
Though in the feature request context, a way to have all those options in the minimum way possible throught a export/import flags, would also be something.
If you consider to export only what had been changed from default, that would reduce the amount of information needed to be exported, same thing to let the browser know what to download in the webapps / extension part.
But I understand that some things would not be ideal to export and are part of sync, like passwords and other form information.
