Brave still asking to "Use a Passkey" even with settings turned off

Everything in:
brave://settings/autofill
brave://password-manager/passwords

…is unchecked, yet still getting the pop-up prompting to Use a Passkey.

Please edit your Original Post (“OP”) above, to include:

  • Brave Browser version numbers
  • Operating System version numbers

Clear cookies, cache, history, etc.

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

brave://settings/clearBrowserData

Select the Advanced tab

Set Time range to “All time”

ENABLE everything except:

  • Passwords and other sign-in data

Click on the “Clear data” button

Exit / Quit BB. Start BB. Test.

Have you tried going directly to https://accounts.google.com/ ?

What was the result of that approach?

Please create an additional Brave Browser Profile, for testing.

Menu → More tools → Add new profile

If your issue is resolved by using that new Profile, then the Profile that you have been using, may have one or more settings that contribute to the cause of your issue.

I’ve updated to include the info.

I don’t believe it has anything to do with my current settings. It’s always been like this even after clean installations on different machines.

I tried searching for this issue but failed to find anything similar so thought I’d post it. Not sure if its intentional to be annoying or a missed bug or something.

I use Bitwarden so have no need for Brave’s password manager yet it still insists on showing that popup whenever I click a User/Password textbox.

I am having the same issue. it keeps offering passkey although I have turned off everything related to it

same for me. The native Brave password manager (disabled like above) will not allow my 1Password integration to use passkeys. Works fine for normal sign in (email, pswd) but not for passkeys.
