Brave shields not working anywhere - ads everywhere

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu): 1.77.95, windows 11

Additional Information: shields are not working anywhere, i see ads everywhere

In Brave Settings> Shields, is “allow ads” selected in the tracker and ad blcoking section?

i rebooted my machine, now it only shows empty black ads on youtube, like i dont see the ads but it still shows the time of ads, if you know what i mean

Thank you for clarifying. Do you see this issue in a Private Window? Are you using extensions?

also seeing it in a private window, and im not using extensions.

Came to say this as well. Was working great even on the free version when I first downloaded it, but now there’s so many ads.

  1. Make sure Brave is up-to-date (I know Shaun1 has it updated, so you’re good, but just like to mention)
  2. Go to brave://components and make sure it’s all updated

If you go to brave://components and you get an update error and it shows something like 0.0.0.0 or whatever for the version, then check out Github comments below:

And also, guess keep in mind the reply in my screenshot below. In a sense is an issue that has been happening to people lately and they don’t know why. But at least they are saying launching as admin just is more likely to cause the problem or potentially make things worse:

i do have extentions by the way, bitdefender traffliclight and adobe acrobat.

Same for me, really happy moving from Edge to Brave until this week, ad’s everywhere on sites that where ad free previously, some embedded vids not playing, although weirdly no ads on youtube.
Windows 10
Brave ver 1.77.95 Chromium
no setting changed
Tried running as admin but no difference, this was advice from another forum, obviously hadn’t seen the reply above, hope I’ve not made matters worse.
Its a shame as it was like a breath of fresh air until this week.

i already answered their questions, brave is up to date, and im using a bitdefender trafficlight extension, i removed adobe acrobat.

And i did not open Brave as admin, i think you should read their comments more thoroughly, with all due respect.

@Shaun1 I never saw you answer about checking brave://components. Did you go there to update everything? And if so, did it all update?

Keep in mind that’s different from speaking about the browser being up to date.

i did that on that forum, then my browser didnt start anymore, then i reversed it, all of a sudden the ads are gone though.

now a TEMP folder is on my desktop, idk what i did wrong,
