Brave Search Stuck at "Confirming Your Access Status..." in Brave Browser

Description of the issue:
I received an email informing that I was accepted into the Brave Search beta. After clicking the link to go to Brave Search a window opened and several notification messages displayed before finally stopping on a message that says “Confirming Your Access Status…”. It has been stuck for 45 minutes. I tried the link in both Brave browser for Windows and Brave for Android with the same result on both. I finally tried the link in Chrome and it loaded properly.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Click email link to go to Brave Search

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Window opens with several notification messages displayed before finally stopping on a message that says “Confirming Your Access Status…”.

Expected result:
Brave Search displays correctly

Reproduces how often:
Every time in Brave browsers, Works correctly in Chrome

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
Windows 10 - Brave V1.24.84, Android 8 - Brave 1.23.76

Same here: link opens page in Brave (macOS), shows messages, hangs at “Confirming Your Access Status…”. Also in Vivaldi. In Safari, the link opens the page with Brave name & logo at top, but shows no messages. As above – and rather ironically – the link does work correctly in Chrome and Firefox (which I don’t ordinarily use).

macOS 10.12.6, current versions of Brave, Vivaldi, Chrome, Firefox; Safari 12.1.2.

Also see thread Brave's search engine for another report.

Thank you both for reporting – I’ve seen a couple other instances of this today as well. I’m reaching out to the team to see if this is known and when a fix should be expected. Appreciate your patience.

@dunawayk @ElectricBrain,
When you are the page and are stuck on that message, can you please open dev tools and share a screenshot of any output that appears in the Console tab? To launch dev tools window, you can go to Menu --> More tools --> Developer tools then select the Console tab.

@Mattches
I’m not able to generate the same error any more. I get this message “Too many recoveries, please try again in 24 hours.”

@dunawayk,
Thank you for the information – discussing with the team.

Well, I just tried the link again in Brave; this time it worked, took me to a 4-page series of informations about the Brave Search beta, then asked “Ready to build this together?” And then to a Search page. So it seems to work now. I closed the page, opened it again from a bookmark, works.

So I tried the link again in Vivaldi, but the page says “There’ve been too many recoveries, please try again in 24 hours.” Also offers to send me a new link. So I just tried the URL https://search.brave.com, but then it told me “It looks like your beta program credentials are missing or expired.” (Though the Search page still opens okay in Brave.) So I asked for a new link, which came right away (and was different than the previous one). Tried that, it again told me “There’ve been too many recoveries, please try again in 24 hours.”

With the new (2nd) link, Safari still shows the blank page with the Brave logo and name at the top. Tried link in Chrome, it goes straight to the https://search.brave.com page. Tried the link in Firefox, it quickly says “Confirming your access status” then goes to the Search page. So it seems to be working now, though not in the old version of Safari which is the limit in macOS 10.12 Sierra. Which I expect is not a big priority for you.

However, would be nice if Brave Search would work in Vivaldi, which I use a lot along with Brave.

May have been too many recoveries because I also tried the link on my iPad (Air, iOS 12.5.2): in Brave, Chrome, Firefox (all current) and Safari (limited to version with iOS 12.5.2) it just gave the blank page with the Brave logo and name at the top.

Tried the second link on iPad: same non-result in all four browsers, just blank page with Brave logo and name at top. Also tried the plain URL https://search.brave.com: same result.

Anyway, do you want any Console info? Btw, in macOS version it’s View Menu > Developer > Developer Tools ⌥⌘I. All it shows now, right after opening https://search.brave.com, is:

Here’s a screenshot of the Vivaldi (v.3.8.2259.40) Console when I try to go to https://search.brave.com:

I got my invite today and now having the same problem.

I am experiencing the exact same issue as the original poster. I am on MacOS Big Sur, and have tested with both the Brave browser and Firefox with identical results

Same issue as described above. Win10 user, brave browser. Tested as mentioned above with same results, now getting “too many recoveries.”

This is happening with me too. Too many recoveries now.

Same issue. Got the invite 5 minutes ago. Screen stuck at “Confirming your access status …” I switched Macs, so I’m Brave browser on both Intel and M1. Also tried Safari. Fix?

Same here! It’s stuck at Confirming Your Access Status in Brave & Chrome for me!

Does not work for me. Get stuck as everybody says at confirming your access status. Tried Brave, Firefox, Safari, and Vivaldi. Tried until the system said I had tried to many times and come back tomorrow. Not a great start.

Exactly the same “confirming access status…” here, too.
Android, brave app as browser (same in edge) - not yet tried chrome.
Something is definitely screwed with the process; any idea of the cause? Any ‘fix’ yet developed/ likely?
Cheers…

Same problem here…

Same issue as above. Stuck on “Confirming your access status…”

The console log has publicKey: null, batchProof: null, and signedCreds: null.

The rest of the data is filled. All XHR requests are status 202 and seem to be valid.
