Brave says it is not up to date and redirects me to Chrome

  • The browser issues a pop-up notification in the upper right corner where the menu is, and the notification says the browser is out of date.
  • When I open up the menu, the first selection, which is usually not there, says “Brave is out of date”.
  • When I click that selection another pop-up windows shows up which has a button that says “Reinstall Brave”.
  • When I click that button, it redirects me to Google Chrome download page.

I’m on Windows 7.

Brave version is Version 0.57.18 Chromium: 71.0.3578.80 (Official Build) (64-bit). Additionally, the “About Brave” page says my browser is actually up to date.

So what’s going on? Is my Brave up to date or not? Why is Brave redirecting to Chrome?

Actually, it’s outdated. The latest version is 0.60.45 Release Channel Update 0.60.45 is Live!

For now, can you download the installer again from brave.com/download ?

No need to uninstall. Just run the installer, and it should fetch the latest version.

We also have an issue logged for this. I added your +1 on your behalf https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/3328
