Brave Rewards profile is flagged… Again. Accidental Error?

Trying to log in to my Gemini to transfer my BAT. I’m getting this message:

“Error: Brave Rewards profile is flagged”

This happened to me before back in April and support had to resolve it.
Here’s the link to the discussion: Brave Rewards profile is flagged... Accidental Error?

It says again “no action should be taken”, but it’s been like that for quite some time now. In the mean time, I am not earning BAT. I’d appreciate it if this issue can be resolved and not happen again, please.

I am sill using a VPN for overall privacy. And it seems to be what causes this issue based on my research last time.

Please, I really would appreciate getting this resolved and corrected so that it doesn’t happen again.

Thank you in advance.

That could be the issue, but it all depends on settings. Are you using it for servers outside of your region? If so, then that’s your problem. It would mean you’re violating the Terms of Brave Ads and are bypassing regional restrictions. If you want to use VPN, have to be in the same region you are actually in. Otherwise turn off Brave Ads while on VPN.

Reason for this is advertisers are paying to have ads displayed ONLY to people in particular regions. When you use VPN to appear in different regions, there becomes a conflict of your device settings vs VPN where Brave can’t determine which region you’re in.

to unflag, if they will unflag, you need to submit a support ticket, just as they told you to do before:

Well, that’s probably not going to happen. This is especially the case if you’re actually doing something you know is going to trigger the system to flag you.

This is hilarious. You really expects system would avoid to flag your profile when you know exactly what for, and you still doing it.

Thank you for your response. I will submit another support ticket. And just for the record, I use servers from exactly the city I live in or some near by if my city server is slow.

I use a VPN, so do a lot of other users. I use a local VPN server. That’s all I do. I don’t see any reason to continue flagging me. I was told last time it was an error on their end.

So that shouldn’t be an issue then. Just was highlighting what could, if you were doing. As explained, goes by region. If you’re in the United States, they do break it down further by state sometimes. Regardless, just wanted to make sure I was pointing out for you and whoever else sees it so is known kind of where the line is drawn with VPN usually.

I do kind of wish Brave would explain more on why accounts get flagged, but I guess they had issues with people using the information to try to learn the system and try to find ways to bypass it. So now they never say a word.

Yea, that makes sense.

Then VPN shouldn’t be your cause, maybe it’s something else, but I’d suggest to use it only with rewards set to off.

Im from Canada and use a united states vpn and i still get ads :man_shrugging:

Don’t know how or when the system checks profiles, but regarding what you said you should be aware of a possible flag at any time.

Do you still get paid for them?

Also, just want to point out that’s like someone saying, “but I sell drugs all the time and never have been arrested.” It doesn’t make it the right thing to do or mean it’s legal. It just means you’ve been lucky enough not to get caught. So as miho171 mentioned, just means always a chance your account could be flagged.
