Brave Rewards just double-debited my Auto-Contribute by error

Briefly describe your issue:

On my Android phone, my Brave Rewards account is set to debit 7.00 BAT per month in Auto-Contribute. (Additionally, I also use the Brave Browser on my Windows 10 laptop with an additional 7-BAT-per-month debit setting, which debits it on a different day each month, versus the one on my phone.)

But unfortunately, just a while ago, I received two e-mails from Uphold within 1 minute of each other…each one saying I “sent 7 BAT to Brave Software International.”

So, for my Android phone, it double-charged my account by error.

What Operating System and Brave version are you using (Menu --> About Brave)?

Operating system:
Android 11; Build/RKQ1.210209.002

Application version:
Brave 1.43.90, Chromium 105.0.5195.102

Is your browser wallet currently verified? (yes/no)

Through Uphold…yes. When I click on the Rewards triangle in the upper-right corner of the screen, it says, “Wallet Verified,” with my full name from my Uphold account showing next to it if I click on it.

What date did you verify your wallet?

I don’t know; it doesn’t say. I do remember logging into my Uphold account a few weeks ago to refresh the link in the system.

Have you been able to successfully receive payments in the past?

I don’t receive payments; I just use Auto-Contribute.

Are you using a VPN? (yes/no)

No

Are you in a supported region (see here for list of supported regions)?

I’m currently in the U.S., so I assume so.

Does your device pass the SafteyNet check (Android only)?

I don’t know.

Have you manually turned off Auto-contribute on all of your devices linked to Uphold??

No, they’re both turned on, as they should be. But, again, it’s set to charge each browser (on my phone, and on my PC) on different days each month. Today, it was supposed to charge my phone browser 7 BAT, but it charged it twice by error.

Please let me know what problems you find, and what can be done to resolve this. Thanks.

Are they both set to 7BAT? I’m noticing you mentioned that they are “different days each month” but it processes contributions from Auto-Contribute during payouts, which would be same or similar days (to my knowledge). Tips are different than Auto-Contribution, so I want to be clear on that as well, in care you set anything up on tips instead.

That part said, any time you have an issue related to Rewards, it’s suggested that you create a Support Ticket so someone from Brave can quickly and easily assist you. Tickets are worked on in the order they are received.

OK, I’ll do that. Thanks for the link.

Both my browsers are set to 7 BAT, and for the last year, have been separately charging my account on different days each month, just like normal. But today, it double-charged it for the one on my phone.

Yeah, I hear you. Just to let you know, they are changing or did change already how that works. I used to always get 2 payments each month but they switched it and instead they combine my Android and Windows payment together. Chris, which is Product Manager (Rewards), with Brave was saying that’s how it should be doing for everyone. Not sure though if that applies to combining Auto-Contribution or if that would be two separate payments.

Hopefully they’ll get to you quickly. (Keep in mind they don’t tend to work weekends, so they’ll have a few days worth of tickets to catch up on)

OK; I just now submitted the support ticket, so I’ll see what they say.

Anyway, on the help ticket, it calls for my “wallet payment ID,” but the Rewards Internals page on my phone doesn’t exactly show that. So, I just posted the “rewards payment ID” in that help-ticket field that my page does show, instead. (My Rewards Internals page also lists the “wallet address” and “custodian member ID.”)

Hopefully, the support staff will get the right number!

Also, on my PC, the “Next contribution date” for my Auto-Contribute is showing October 5th, while the one on my phone is listed as October 11th.

Everything seems to be fine, except that it double-charged me today for the one on my phone.
