Brave resets my search engine settings every time I launch it

Description of the issue: Each time I launch brave after logging out of my mac. My search engine settings have been reset and opening the settings page state that some of my settings have been reset.

How can this issue be reproduced?

1. log out of mac
2. log in
3. launch brave

Expected result: search engine settings (and maybe some others?) are reset.

Brave Version( check About Brave): Version 1.44.112 Chromium: 106.0.5249.119 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Additional Information: This problem happens on my school computer (have not tried on my home pc or my macbook) the user folder is on a shared disc which can be accessed from any mac in the school. im not sure if this could be affecting the settings or not. I dont have this same problem on other browsers though.

Also the browser im trying to set as default is google but after each login its set back to brave.
