Brave Requests Me To Sign Into Sync To Save Passwords

Whenever I save a password Brave requests me to “Sign into Brave”. I am using Windows 10. The version of Brave I’m using Brave is Version 1.75.181 Chromium: 133.0.6943.141 (Official Build) (64-bit). It’s been happening for roughly a week now. Happens every time I save login information(username, password).

Can you show a screenshot of this? Because there’s nothing to sign into.

But I will ask, could you be referring to Windows Hello setting active in Brave, which you can find at brave://password-manager/settings?

And also keep in mind you need to have an OS password. If you have no password for your device, then you would have a problem. This is because it uses your OS login credentials to store and encrypt your passwords.

This is what comes up. It happens every time I save a password. When I click the button it takes me to Google login.

@NewBreed117 interesting. Overall it would make me think that it’s not one of the versions downloaded directly from Brave. Or makes me think it could be some sort of malware or something.

I suppose it could always be something screwy in the code but is generally unlikely. Where did you install Brave from? And how long ago did you install it?

I downloaded Brave from the Brave website and I let the browser update itself. I’ve had Brave installed on my system for years. I have ran virus scans and nothing was found.

I’m having the identical issue. Same pop-up when I save a new password.

I downloaded Brave browser from brave.com

I’m also running Windows 10 64-bit, with Version 1.75.181 Chromium: 133.0.6943.141 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Bah, I forgot about this one. @Mattches @steeven do you have any ideas about this

@SteveDay72 @NewBreed117 do you both have Brave Sync enabled at this time?

I’ve opened an issue for this on Github just in case:

I do have Brave Sync enabled and have had it enabled as soon as it was available.
