Brave release 1.70.117 causing problems with access to many sites

Description of the issue:
Many issues since since 1.70.117.
reddit gifs won’t play
youtube videos wont play
Intel driver support is blocked
Can’t log into some websites like Australia Post
It is very slow and chewing up huge resource
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. go to https://auspost.com.au/
  2. select login / mypost
  3. get an error Sorry, it looks like something went wrong Please try again later.

Expected result:
should log in. link works correctly on Edge

  1. go to https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html
  3. get an error Intel® Driver & Support Assistant is being blocked. Please see our FAQs for help.

I was having the same issues with sites completely failing to load after recent browser updates. After years of using Brave, I’ve made the switch to Firefox, where there are no issues.

Is it still occuring? Does it occur in other Brave builds? (Release/Beta/Nightly) I don’t login to test with

I can confirm it still happens with mlb.com and other websites. My persistent login cookies were dumped across several websites wit the update and I can’t log into any of them. I don’t have other Brave builds to check but it also happens in Google Chrome Version 129.0.6668.58 (official 64-bit build).

I’m experiencing the exact same issue. Many websites won’t play GIFs, YouTube videos, or Facebook calls. I hope a fix will be added soon. However, it seems that when I open Brave in private mode or use a different profile, the problem no longer occurs.

I’m experiencing this as well, half my website are either not loading at all or some functionality is broken. This is also completely unrelated to shields or ad blocking because the issues don’t go away when disabling those. This is a serious concern for me and it’s making me rethink using this browser long term.

Yes it’s still occurring.
I haven’t installed any other brave builds and have no intention of doing so. I don’t know what you mean by ’ I don’t login to test with’.

I tried to turnoff extention one by one and it worked. It was some extention with downloading videos from youtube. Look into it, it should help

Hello, I tried following your advice. I only had two extensions installed (Super Dark Mode and a VPN), and it seems to be working now.

Thanks for that. Turned off all extensions and then turned then on one by one. It is this emoji keyboard one

I wonder what on Earth it has been doing while installed on my PC!!!

PS reported it on the web store. There are heaps of reviews complaining about it blocking things. It is very suspicious - must be spyware.
