Description of the issue:

Brave redirecting all google results to the same facebook page

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Search with Google
  2. Click link in search result and it leads to facebook… but search result is not facebook.
  3. Hover over other search results links and it shows the same facebook link for every result.

Expected result:

Clicking link should direct to the expected page.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Brave 1.79.126 (Official Build) (arm64)

Chromium: 137.0.7151.119

Hi all,
This has happened a couple times now.

I search for something using Google.

Every search result on the page leads to the same facebook page. e.g. Searched for a specific brand of auto detail brush. The first result is the website for the brand of brush I’m looking for. Clicking the link leads to a facebook video showing that brush but not to the main page of the company which it appears it should based on the search result.
Hover over every other link (multiple different websites) in the search results and it displays the same facebook page.

Does not happen with Safari on same computer using same search criteria.

This sounds like it may be an extension interfering with the search results you’re clicking on. Could also be a cache issue. Can you try visiting google.com, clearing cache/site data for the site (click the “tune” icon next to the URL, then Site settings --> Delete data), refresh the page and test again?

If that doesn’t work, can you try disabling any installed extensions and seeing if this makes any difference?

Thanks for the reply. I deleted all browsing data right before I saw your reply. It’s currently working correctly. It has only happened a couple times over the past few weeks so I’ll watch it and report back if it happens again.
