Description of the issue: Brave sometimes fails to load a website. When I experience this bug, it’s almost always the first website I try to load, but I have recorded at least 1 incident where it happened in the middle of my browsing session. It should work again if you re-try the search term or refresh the page of the website you’re visiting.
How can this issue be reproduced?
- Start up Brave browser on Windows 10 22H2
- Enter a search term or URL
Expected result: The website loads.
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Either
A) The website partially or improperly loads (as shown in screenshots)
or
B) The website does not load at all and Brave refreshes its home screen, including the clearing of the search term / URL.
Reproduces how often: Unsure, but if I had to guess I’d say maybe 1-10% of the time depending on what luck you have that day. I think you’re more likely to experience the bug if there has been a decent interval of time from when you last had the browser open since I’m having trouble reproducing the bug when I repeatedly open and close the Brave browser but regularly experience it with real-world usage.
Brave Version(about:brave): Version 1.73.104 Chromium: 131.0.6778.204 (Official Build) (64-bit)
(see additional info)
Reproducible on current live release (yes/no): Yes
Additional Information: I’ve been experiencing this bug for about 1-2 years but only started recording a few instances of it here and there since August 2024. I used Fedora Workstation for a short time in the past and experienced this bug there as well. I also used to experience this bug on Android but I haven’t noticed it as of late. Either it was fixed or I’ve been getting lucky on Android. Currently still experiencing the bug occasionally on Windows 10 22H2.
