Brave not working after update. vers 0.19.147 and older seem to work fine

#1

I keep having to reinstall version 0.19.147 in order to connect to any websites.
Since Brave auto updates itself after I close or restart, I am reinstalling daily.
I am on Windows 10 and all other installed browsers work just fine.

Dear,
Could you be more specific? What exact problem are you facing after update?
Regards

If I allow the Brave update, the browser reopens and each tab that was previously connected will error connecting. I can’t connect to external websites. Pages won’t load. As soon as I downgrade the problem goes away.

Sounds Different.

This issue definitely needs developers attention.

I should mention this is the x64 bit version. Still occurs. Wondering if there is some network security feature on my end blocking the access on all new versions.

@milesius

I think you might be facing this issue: https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/issues/12959

Looks like the same issue. where can I download 0.20.43 ?

We don’t have a release build with the issue, but I think this is the build that users had been trying (note it is marked as an experimental fix, proceed with caution): https://github.com/brave/browser-laptop/releases/tag/0.20.x-exp-proxy-fix-1

I advise backing up your profile prior to trying this (or any experimental) version out. That can be done by:
Navigate to “%userprofile%\AppData\Local” and copy the “brave” folder (Start > Run > paste path) - I usually name this something like brave-backup1
Navigate to “%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming” and copy the “brave” folder (Start > Run > paste path) - I usually name this something like brave-profilebackup1

Let me know if you have any questions.

Lauren
