Brave not accessing microphone successfully

**Description of the issue: Brave not accessing microphone successfully
**How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Go to https://vapi.ai/ and press talk to VAPI
  2. Give permission to access mic

**Expected result: After permission is granted, you should be able to hear a voice assistant

**Brave Version( check About Brave): v1.78.94 on Windows 11

Additional info
It used to work!
If I go to the same site using Edge, it prompts for permission and when granted I can talk to the VAPI assistant successfully.
If I go to a mic test site using Brave, it successfully accesses the mic and I can record.
If I go to a site to play sounds I can also do this successfully. Its only the VAPI site that is affected.
If I clear data held by Brave for VAPI and try again it doesnt make any difference.

Thank you for reporting. Looks like I can reproduce this as well. Works in Chrome and Edge just fine but fails in Brave but only on Windows. On macOS the site works as expected. Will likely open an issue for this shortly.

I’ve opened the following issue for this:

However, I also went ahead and tested VAPI using the Beta build of Brave on Windows and was able to use the site as expected. It may just be the case that whatever is causing the issue in the stable build was fixed in Beta and will resolve itself when the stable build gets an update.

thanks Brave Matt,

A bit of an edge case but I thought it would be good for you guys to know. Great support btw, thanks!

I couldn’t repo this, It responded to every question I asked. More details in the GH ticket. I can only guess it has to do with the default mic, whether its right mic or the mic’s listening volume. I was just using Logitech c920 webcam mic
