Brave no longer blocks cookie consent pop-ups

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed that Brave has suddenly stopped blocking cookie consent pop-ups on many websites. It was working fine before, but from one day to the next, these banners started appearing again.
I’ve checked my settings, and “EasyList Cookie” is enabled in Shields, but the pop-ups still show up. I also tried clearing my cache and updating Brave, but nothing changed.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a fix or workaround?

OS : W10
Brave : 1.76.73
This happen on all sites not only some

Thanks in advance for your help!

@waliss still no ads but is just cookie consent popups?

If it’s just handful of sites you may just need to be sure to report it under Browser Support > Ad-Blocking and make sure you provide all the links to the sites you see it at.

More than EasyList cookie, I’d make sure you have Fanboy’s Annoyances and uBlock Annoyances on. Perhaps make sure you have tracker and ad blocking to Aggressive as well.

Anyway, if it’s also ads appearing on sites then I’d say to check brave://components to see if they are updating. If you can’t update those, then you might be having an issue impacting a small subset of people on that.

Thanks for your quick response @Saoiray !
I don’t have any ads, only cookie consent pop-ups, for example on www.google.fr. Brave was blocking them perfectly just yesterday.

I have Fanboy’s Annoyances and uBlock Annoyances On.

I’m sure it’s a settings issue because I recently installed software that cleaned unwanted files from my browsers, and I wonder if it accidentally removed some files that prevent Brave from doing its job.

In that case, how can I restore a proper and complete installation of Brave?

I tried uninstalling Brave (without deleting user data) and reinstalling it, but the issue remains the same.
