Description of the issue:
Brave browser is no longer blocking ads with Windows 11 24H2

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Navigate to any website with ads ( https://www.bbc.com/news )

Expected result:
No banners/ads

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.73.91 Chromium: 131.0.6778.85 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:
I have two PCs, both with Windows 11, one with 23H2 and one recently updated to 24H2. After Windows updated to 24H2, Brave no longer blocks ads.
I have checked all the settings in Brave and even reinstalled it. I have also searched for and tried various solutions posted over the years.

@Zelig if you go to brave://components and try to update things, is it safe to assume some of them will say unable and show like version 0.0.0.0 or whatever?

If so, I’m assuming issue is related to a known upstream issue where people are having change on their device creating components updates in a separate admin only section, which creates issues. It’s being worked on.

Thanks. All components are up to date.

The issue seems to be intermittent. Some browser sessions work, others don’t. I don’t see a pattern.
