Brave logged me out of all sessions after using Safe Mode (login data still present)

Hi,

I recently had an issue with Brave. I booted my PC into Safe Mode to uninstall the Display Drivers, and during that time, I opened Brave briefly to finish watching a tutorial. I didn’t notice anything wrong at the time, and I closed the browser shortly after.

However, when I restarted my PC in normal mode and opened Brave again, I was logged out of all my sessions — Google, Discord, etc. The strange part is that my Login Data file and Default profile folder are still present in the Brave directory, meaning the data wasn’t deleted.

Unfortunately, I had not set up Brave Sync, and I didn’t have those important logins saved in a password manager.

Is there any way to restore those session cookies or reauthenticate my logged-in sessions? I’d appreciate any guidance or help. Thank you!

@Sxtrneeer sounds like an issue occurred with your OS keychain which has created a new encryption key. If anything happened to corrupt or change it, there’s not really anything Brave can do. If you had changed your OS password or anything, sometimes you can change it back and it works. I don’t think a system restore would help, but you could try to do a system restore to an older point where it was working.

Anyway, may want to read up a bit on https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/29808985123085-Sensitive-data-storage
