Brave locks up (Not Responding) every time I open a new tab

I get Not Responding every time I open a new tab. If I wait a minute or two, the cpu will go down and it will respond, but if I open and immediately try to do anything in Brave, it just sits and shows not responding until after it clears. See below:

Windows 10, latest version with patches.
New install, no extensions, no additions
Not synced
