Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

Visit maps.google.com . location is always set to a strange address between LA and Glendale almost 600 miles from my location.

Expected result:
I should be seen in san francisco

Reproduces how often:
Every time

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

macOS 10.14.6
Version 0.68.138 Chromium: 77.0.3865.75 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information:

Hi @fatesounds,

Welcome to community and thanks for running in. That’s some strange behavior. Are you using a VPN? Did this start happening with a recent update or has it always been an issue?

Thanks in advance!

This started only recently and nope no VPN. It’s very strange because Safari, Chrome, and Firefox is all showing the correct location but Brave is the only browser on this machine and any machine in the house that shows me 600 miles away from where I am. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled brave with the same result. The location does not work at all on brave on my work machine as well

When you go to Google maps, can you click on the little lock icon and then click on “Site Settings”? From there, check if “Location” is enabled/disabled. It could be that Brave is blocking something (for your privacy) that allows Maps to hone in on your location. Perhaps it can be reenabled.

Try navigating to: brave://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com

Location is definitely enabled

@fatesounds,
Visit Google maps, open you Shields panel and try setting the Device Recognition settings to Allow all... and see if this helps at all.
Additionally, you should try visiting maps.google.com while in a private browsing session/window and see if the site can locate you then.
