Description of the issue: The browser lags in a specific case. When i open a video in youtube and start scrolling downwards, when i pass the area around the description it lags. Otherwise it’s fine when it’s on the video or past the description in the comments, only happens in that area.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Open YouTube
Open any video
Start scrolling
Expected result: Lag spike when passing the youtube description area.
Brave Version 1.73.91 Chromium: 131.0.6778.85 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Additional Information: Have not noticed lag in any other pages, or while reproducing issue in other browser. Only this specific case.
@hehecheck,
I would like to know if you see this same issue occur when you’re using a Guest profile (Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile). Can you please launch a Guest profile, close your original profile window (so that only the guest profile window is open) and then test the behavior there?
Hi, thank you for replying!
After testing, from what I can see, the problem doesn’t occur with the guest profile, I also tried creating a new profile and didn’t experience this behavior there either, in fact youtube seemed even more responsive.
The only profile that has this behavior is therefore my own.
I’ve always left brave shield in default mode, the thing that I clearly have different between profiles, as well as different web pages in my favourites are the extensions, I’ll forward you below the ones I have on my profile, in case they may help:
Bitwarden password manager
Master volume
Dark reader
Google translate
DeepL translator
Keepa (amazon price tracker)
Return youtube dislike
Sponsorblock for youtube
These are the extensions that I currently have active.
I’ve been using brave for 2 years now and it has never given me this problem, only in the last 1/2 weeks I’ve experienced this slowdown and sporadic crashes.
A further note I would like to point out, is that if I try to emulate this behaviour (with my personal profile) and then reload the page, sometimes Brave crash, as well as starting to freeze for several seconds.
I look forward to your answers!
It is highly likely that one of those extensions is causing the issue. I would recommend going through and disabling them to see if the behavior disappears.
Thank you very much for your reply, I’ll keep an eye on the situation this month before the topic closes, but from what it seems the Dark Reader extension was causing this behavior, I will keep you updated in case it occurs again.
