Description of the issue: Have a SHOUTcast server that can’t use a secure connection and Brave keeps trying to load it securely, and displaying the “ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED” error. (There was apparently a way to make it use a secure connection, but that doesn’t seem to work.)
Recently I had added some extra items on my main website’s “Web.Config” file, including HSTS, and when I commented that out, this problem still persisted.
@life777eternal happen to go through your settings? I see you mentioned with Shields off it still has issues, so may not be related, but more or less am thinking about your settings globally or per site for things like HTTPS.
You could also try disabling it in brave://flags just as a test:
Greetings @Saoiray, which version of Brave do you have? Because it seems that I don’t have that “Use HTTPS by Default” option on my version of Brave. Unless it’s a hidden setting that wouldn’t show up when searching the settings for “https”.
@life777eternal I did a dumb typo in a hurry. It was supposed to say brave://flags but I had Shields in my mind. I just edited what I originally said, but yeah…
And other one is like you mentioned, which is setting Upgrade connections to HTTPS.
I’m trying to think what else might be at play here.
Can you also confirm whether this happens in a guest profile (or new profile)? At least on your Windows.
And also, you labeled this both as Windows and Android. Does this happen on different devices or what device are you experiencing the problem on?
Oh ok, I see… alright. I tried to disable that “Use HTTPS by Default” and then restarted the browser, without any change. And aye it’s the same on Brave for Android too. Oh and the “profile” on Brave is just the default.
Unfortunately no, I thought changing the flag would definitely resolve the issue. @life777eternal thank you for opening that issue — I will ping a couple devs internally and ensure they take a look.
I am having the same issue. I have checked everything above. Changed the mentioned flag. Turned off shields. And in settings - Security I have turned off “always use secure connections.”
This seems like a bug, as the behavior doesn’t match what the settings show. It worked a few months ago, but I can’t pin down when it stopped. I am currently forced to use Edge for a few sites.
Greetings @289wk, I did notice that it loads in a private tab normally, aye. But in the normal tabs it keeps adding the ‘s’ which causes it to not load.
I understand that, but Brave has the privacy features I want, none of Edge, Chrome, or Chromium do.
It’s a bug in Brave, that didn’t exist in previous versions. In my case it isn’t Cloudflare, its local resources I can’t access that don’t support https.
