Brave is so slow to the point where I want to switch browsers

Description of the issue:

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong to make Brave not only operate so slowly, but take my entire laptop down with me in the process. Even with just 4 tabs open, it eats up a lot of performance power. A Gmail tab alone consumes nearly 1 GB.

I like using Brave for its ability to block ads and help me generate BAT tokens in my wallet. But if I can’t figure out this problem once and for all, I might have to switch to Chrome.

Expected result:

I’d like Brave to not consume so much computing power and operate normally. Everything in my computer returns to normal the second I’m not using Brave.

Can you try disabling Graphics Acceleration to see if this has any effect on performance? Settings --> System --> Graphics Acceleration

It was already disabled prior to writing my post.

And what happens if you toggle it “on”?
